If my geographical memory serves me correctly, I photographed this sign between Hikurangi and Kawakawa in Northland. I don't have a map handy to check and I've now been down so many dozens of side roads on my trip north that I'm becoming a little confused. You are absolutely spot on with the location. If visiting the area Ruapekapeka Pa, site of Chief Kawiti and Hone Hekes amajor battle with the British Red Coats is very nearby. the Kawiti Caves are worth a visit too.
